Mr. (or Mrs.) Potato Head

This page has the center fold going through it so it can be double width.  The basic page is a felt potato shape sewn on to one side and a big pocket sewn on the other.

Inside the pocket are a variety of pieces.  I made different colors and styles for hair, mustaches, hats, hair bows, mouths, arms, shoes, glasses, noses, etc.  Very few things were actually sewn (the eye colors, gem on crown, flower on hat, earring on ears, shapes on clown hat).  Mostly I drew or just started cutting and hoped I liked the result.  I used felt so it would stick a little and wouldn’t need raw edges sewn.  This is a favorite page! My toddler loves dressing up Mr./Mrs. Potato Head.  I realized afterwards that it is also good for teaching body structure.  My toddler knows all the parts shown here, but sometimes the arms end up above the ears, or the mouth might be placed at the top of the head before realizing something doesn’t look right.  If I could do it over I would consider putting a second potato on the page.Mr. Potato Head quiet book page.
